You really need to think you can. Please think about this old saying: by Henry Ford: “If you think you can do a thing or think you can’t do a thing, you’re right”.
If you think you can do it then you will try to do it. Conversely, some will not even try if they think they can’t do something. They will never know if they could have succeeded if they tried – a waste of potential!
An almost universal characteristic in people who are successful is self-confidence. Most people have a little self-confidence but many times not as much as they could or should. If you have self-confidence you will usually see most things from the viewpoint that you probably can do whatever it is. Those with ample self-confidence believe in themselves and their abilities. They know if they put their mind to it then they can do it.
Sometimes people can lose their self-confidence if they had critical people in their lives or they have had some failures. If and when they ever realize that is the cause of their negative view of themselves, they need to work at making themselves feel stronger. That work can range from determination and self-talk to get them over the hump. They can change their mind so that it will allow them to try something new like starting a home business and to believe that it is possible for them to succeed.
‘The road to success is littered with failures’ is another saying that is so important to remember in this regard. We learn from our mistakes. However mistakes are not really failures but lessons. So with each mistake we learn what we can and take it with us. We now have more information and have built a little strength of character in that we are still trying even after we made a mistake.
“You can’t fail unless you quit” is still another saying to remember when you feel doubt or disbelief in yourself. That includes just about anything that you endeavor. If you don’t quit you are still trying, right?
Most things of the magnitude of starting our own business require time and effort to succeed whether we are confident or not. Part of believing would be not to quit until we give it and ourselves a fair chance. Believe in yourself no matter what and always start from that point each day.
