Home Business Planning

There are numerous details and there may be a lot to learn when you first start out to build a business. Unless you have an organized plan it can be overwhelming. Take ‘one chunk’ at a time. Don’t try to do it all at once.

plan on it!

Make a few lists to help yourself create a plan. Start with one list that includes everything that comes to mind. Don’t worry about format or anything but the ideas themselves. Pick a few things from that list each day and create other shorter lists of the things you need to accomplish.

Make it manageable so that you don’t feel overwhelmed or get discouraged if you can’t get to all of it right this minute. Remember the saying ‘it is not a race, it is a marathon.’ Take your time. There is no test or anybody demanding anything right now. Go back over things a few times and maybe more details will become apparent.

Once things settle down a little and you have your bearings (just from the act of organizing your thoughts), remember that your first priority should be to take action using the simple tools that will likely produce income the soonest. For example don’t spend a year tweaking your website for cosmetics or take an online class in HTML.It is not necessary. Down the line it may be helpful when you have your marketing and advertising running.

You are here to make money, right? No money in playing around with your website especially if you really don’t know what you are doing. The point is that if nobody sees your site because you haven’t got your marketing and advertising running, then you are wasting your time. Until you get your business rolling (generating income) focus on how to get the money.

On the other hand, it is important to have a website that functions properly, is attractive, easy to navigate, and does not have bad links or errors that may discourage or prevent someone from taking action while they are there. Your website represents your business, so some attention should be paid to the environment. Just don’t get lost in bells and whistles.

You should always be learning as you go along and you will if you pay attention. Things are always changing, mostly improving and getting easier. You should be aware of everything so that you give your business the best chance of succeeding. If you encounter unfamiliar terminology or concepts, just ‘google’ them to get an overview or some explanation. (query a search engine).
