When you are creating your business plan and setting your target goals, you do want to make them sufficient to help you to achieve success in the soonest time. If you give yourself impossible goals, for one thing you won’t be able to reach them and for another they will just serve to discourage you. Aim high, but keep it realistic according to your time and other resources. You always want to make your goals achievable.
For example are you very busy with a regular ‘day job’ and have family responsibilities, etc.? Then you may be developing your business in your ‘spare’ time. Naturally if you are only able to devote ‘part’ time to your business, it may take you a little longer to achieve your goals than it would if you were doing it ‘full’ time. So actually calculate how many hours you could commit to your business in the evenings and on weekends. |
The other important thing to keep in mind is to make that time count. Don’t waste it weeding through email and always going off on a detour following some ‘shiny new object’. Stick with what you need to do. Make a list and go through it. Only then if you still have time, go through email. This is not to say don’t answer direct communications from people you know and are doing business with. Those should be a priority.
What is referred to as a waste of your time and energy is unsolicited advertising aka spam. Even if it is from companies you are already involved with keep in mind they are in business to make the most money that they can, just like you. They likely will always be trying to encourage you to upgrade or add more of their products. This is not exactly spam but again it is going to waste time you may not have to work with what you are already doing.
You may have to literally talk to yourself to be sure you are staying on track with what you already know you need to do for what you have already started. Of course when you have that covered and if you are ready to add more opportunities to your portfolio of multiple income streams, then that would warrant some of your precious time as it would contribute to your bottom line.
More huge time wasters are searching endlessly in search engines where you can get lost for hours. Search engines are primary to any Internet business and have probably all the information there is in the world – like a huge encyclopedia of knowledge. You should take advantage of this great resource whenever you need to find information. However get in and get out – don’t get lost. The same thing can be said about social networks and forums. They have their place and can be a welcome addition to your promotional tools for your business. But do you really need to read every post? (nope)
